the Bag's dream

The Bag's Dream

The black and green bag sat in the back of a cupboard and dreamed what if?

It dreamed that it was an airplane soaring through the sky, a green and black whirlwind

But it knows it’s just a bag

It dreamed it was a train traveling across the land a blur of colours and sound

But it knows it’s just a bag

It dreams of when it was new beaming on the shelf, shiny as gold

But it knows it’s just a bag

It wonders what will happen to it in future

But it knows it’s just a bag

It wonders why it had to be a bag not an airplane or bird or even a spoon

But it knows it’s just a bag

It questions what will happen in the future will it ever be used again

And then that moment comes.

  3. Dear Louis,
    Amazing poem!
    Love your repeat phrase!
But, on "It wonders why it had to be a bag not a airplane," you have a spelling mistake because you wrote a airplane. the correct way to say this would be an airplane.
    Again, amazing poem!

  4. Dear Louis,
I love the rhythm of the poem. The refrain makes the reader think about their motivation in life. I think the theme of this poem is about believing in yourself. I wonder if you were writing about all the choices people have in their lives. Am I correct? If not it's OK because some poems reach out to different people in different ways. What do you think? do you think that a poem can be interpreted anyway you like or does a reader have to get the authors meaning? I look forward to hearing from you. Mrs Hoegen
